RollingStone named Deanna Brown, “One to Watch…the subtle blonde with a country drawl.”
Entertainment Weekly agreed, “I’m already totally sold on Deanna Brown. Equal parts gravel, heart, and soul, has me thinking she’s a singer who could excel at country or rock or blues.”
The Louisville, Ky native was lifted to stardom as a contestant on American Idol Season 8. Deanna made it all the way to the Hollywood round and received great reviews from all 4 judges. After the show’s end, Deanna signed her first record deal with Ocean Records. Her debut album, Traveler has been released and can be purchased from iTunes, CDbaby, and directly from this web-site.
Her album is a culmination of her musical journey which has taken her from her Kentucky roots to Los Angeles to the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has teamed up with producer Padraic Coursey, of Aqua Sounds Studio, and calls St. Croix home (for now).
Fans alike have found a connection to her soulful lyrics and melodies. Her early influences include Carole King, Janis Joplin, and Bonnie Raitt. Her favorites today are Fiona Apple, Jewel, P.J. Harvey, Ani Difranco and Beth Orton. “My focus has always been on flourishing in my ability to create music. There is a huge market for songwriters as well as performers, you just have to find what works for you and your audience. I truly believe a great song will get heard and recognized if enough people hear it.”
